Janine Lee (Schmitt) Slawinski, was welcomed into God’s arms Tuesday, December 29, 2015. She was born to Richard and Barbara Schmitt on March 8, 1960 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Janine spent her early life in Marinette and was a graduate of Marinette High School and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She married Strac Slawinski on June 25, 1983, at Zion Lutheran Church in Marinette. After her marriage, Janine and her family resided in Spokane, Wash. and Simsbury, Conn. before moving to Brookfield, Wis. where they lived for 26 years. Janine immersed herself in the loving care of her family. She loved to cook and volunteer for school, church and community activities. She was a member of the Brookfield Junior Women’s Club and instrumental in the volunteer work of the Brookfield Survive Alive House. Janine was a physical fitness enthusiast and loved to spend her free time enjoying the beautiful weather of Naples, Fla. Her biggest joy came from being a devoted wife and mother. She will be busy and at peace in Heaven.
Janine is survived by her mother, Barbara Schmitt of Marinette, who will cherish the memory of a loving and inspirational daughter; and by Strac Slawinski; three children: Jared Slawinski, Kate Slawinski and Martha Slawinski; and grandson, Grayson James White.
The family memorialized the life of Janine at a service on January 1, 2016, conducted by the Rev. James Wendt. The life of Janine will be further celebrated this summer with a ceremony on the Chain of Lakes at Waupaca, Wis., a place Janine loved.
In loving memory of Janine, hug a family member and let them know how much you love them, be kind to your pets and people around you. Smile, laugh out loud and maximize each and every day.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the charity of your choice.
